Janitor/Custodian

Locations Chicago, IL 60621, USA Description Basic Function: Under direct supervision, this position is responsible for performing daily cleaning of a community day service facility, including office spaces, common program areas, warehouse, Cafe and restrooms, as well as maintaining cleanliness in exterior areas surrounding the building perimeter. Reporting Relationship: Reports To: Program Supervisor /Director Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 9 am-5 pm Responsibilities: Cleans, sweeps, and mops floors as required by the cleaning schedule. Washes mirrors, stalls, walls, sinks, and baseboards. Vacuums, shampoos, and scrubbing carpets as applicable. Conducts periodic buffing, stripping, and waxing of floors. Cleans and sanitizes water fountains, telephones, and janitorial closets. Uses the correct procedures for each cleaning task. Follows manufacturer’s recommendation for use of all cleaning solutions. Follows all safety procedures when operating equipment. Informs supervisor of any equipment malfunction or unusual occurrences on the job. Maintains equipment, supplies, and supply room in an orderly fashion. Performs other duties as assigned. Specifications: 6 months of experience in the janitorial/custodial field (or completion of a janitorial/custodial-training program) High school diploma or equivalent. Environmental Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
