Associate Underwriter II

Job Overview Associate Underwriter II supports Farm Family agents, policyholders, and underwriters by applying risk-based analysis to underwrite and service business at a policy and account level. The role includes making independent decisions regarding rating of policies/accounts and discount eligibility, responding to correspondence, identifying and addressing submission issues, and presenting recommendations for system and process improvements. Responsibilities Make independent decisions regarding rating of policies/accounts and discount eligibility using applicable rating manuals and written underwriting processes. Make decisive risk selection decisions within authority limits to approve, refer, or reject all transactions. Respond to all correspondence, including email and telephone inquiries, from agents and third parties in a timely manner. Identify and address submission requirement issues with agents to mitigate policy cancellations and/or non-renewals. Correspond with various state agencies to update insurance records for American National clients. Present recommendations for improvements to systems and processes to improve efficiency and streamline the handling of policies/accounts. Research state-specific policies and guidelines to address agent inquiries. Qualifications High school diploma. Close attention to detail. Strong decision-making skills. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal. Minimum of one year of work experience. Salary & Benefits Base salary range for Albany: $35,000 - $45,000. Pay ranges for other locations may differ based on the cost of labor.
