This is a crisis group home which is a short‑term, highly supportive residential setting designed for children, teens, or adults who are experiencing an emotional, behavioral, or other crisis. The goal is stabilization — not long‑term placement — so the person can return home or move to a more appropriate setting once th e individual has stabilized and a plan is in place. The individuals we support in this setting are often highly behavioral, may be violent at times, display verbal aggression, and may elope. It is imperative that employees following our training, policies, and care plans to support individuals with these unique needs.
Full Time Float Must Have Flexibility to work Mornings, Evenings, Overnights and Every Other Weekend
As a Flex Float Direct Support Professional (DSP), you play a vital role in supporting multiple individuals and programs by providing reliable coverage where it is needed most. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, flexibility, and the opportunity to work with different individuals, teams, and environments.
Flex Float DSPs help ensure individuals continue receiving consistent, high-quality support when programs need additional staffing coverage. You will have the opportunity to build relationships across multiple homes, gain valuable experience, and make a meaningful impact every day.
What Does a Flex Float DSP Do?
Flex Float DSPs provide the same compassionate, person-centered support as a traditional DSP while having the flexibility to work across different locations. Responsibilities may include:
- Building meaningful relationships and supporting individuals in developing friendships and community connections.
- Assisting with daily routines such as cooking, household tasks, personal care, hygiene, social activities, and leisure activities.
- Supporting individuals with health and safety needs, money management, and behavior support strategies.
- Administering medications according to training and company procedures.
- Providing transportation to appointments, activities, and community outings.
- Documenting services, activities, and important events using an online documentation system.
- Encouraging independence while providing the level of support each individual needs.
- Providing coverage and support at multiple program locations as staffing needs arise.

Schedule Expectations
The Flex Float DSP position requires open availability and flexibility to support staffing needs across multiple programs. Float DSPs must be available:
- Monday through Friday – open availability at any time
- Every other Saturday and Sunday – open availability at any time
- Ability to work a variety of shifts, including morning, evening, and overnight shifts
- Ability to work shifts up to12 hours, depending on program needs
Flex Float DSPs will receive their general schedule approximately two weeks in advance to help with planning and preparation. However, because this role provides essential coverage across multiple programs, there may be times when schedule changes, additional coverage needs, or shift adjustments are communicated with limited notice.

Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years of age(at least 21 years of age for Children’s Crisis sites)
- Have a high school diploma or GED preferred.
- Have experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
- Possess a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and maintain a clean driving record.
- Have access to an insured vehicle.
- Successfully pass a DHS background study.
- Have basic computer skills for documentation and communication.
Working Environment
Flex Float DSPs work in a variety of residential and community-based settings. This position requires someone who is comfortable adapting to different environments and supporting individuals with a wide range of needs.
Flex Float DSPs may:
- Travel between multiple program locations.
- Support individuals both indoors and outdoors.
- Assist with physical activities such as walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and moving throughout the workday.
- Work in environments where individuals may experience emotional distress, behavioral challenges, or crisis situations.
- Be exposed to bodily fluids, odors, dust, infectious diseases, and other workplace conditions common in human services.
