Job Description
The Quality Inspector inspects incoming materials, in-process work, and finished printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies to ensure they meet customer, company, and industry standard requirements. This role relies on strong visual inspection skills, knowledge of electronic components, and familiarity with IPC-A-610 standards to identify defects, document non-conformances, and support the overall Quality Management System.
Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming materials for conformance to specifications and standards, checking for issues such as counterfeit parts, condition, marking, and performing alcohol testing where required.
• Inspect in-process and finished printed circuit board assemblies to verify conformance to company, customer, and industry standard requirements, including IPC-A-610.
• Visually inspect PCB assemblies and identify defects based on specifications and IPC-610A standards.
• Document all non-conformances accurately and completely according to company procedures.
• Calibrate and maintain inspection equipment as required and directed to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
• Collect and record inspection data as required to support quality metrics and continuous improvement efforts.
• Prepare and write certificates of conformance to verify that products meet specified requirements.
• Participate in internal and external Quality Management System audits, providing information and documentation as needed.
• Read and interpret electronics schematics and diagrams to support accurate inspection and defect identification.
• Collaborate closely with Quality Assurance, Production, and other departments, taking direction from multiple sources and communicating inspection findings clearly.
• Maintain focus and attention to detail in a production environment with time and quality pressures.
• Use computer systems and software to enter inspection results, track non-conformances, and support quality documentation.

Essential Skills

• At least 1+ years of experience in a similar quality inspection position.
• Strong visual inspection skills, particularly with printed circuit board assemblies.
• Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 standards.
• Ability to read and understand technical documentation such as customer requirements and manufacturing instructions.
• Ability to read and interpret electronics schematics and diagrams.
• Knowledge of electronic components, including component identification and color codes.
• Ability to use inspection equipment such as calipers, gauges, and related measurement tools.
• Basic computer skills to document inspection results and non-conformances.
• Ability to take direction from multiple sources, including Quality Assurance and Production.
• High level of communication skills to work effectively with other departments.
• Motivated, self-starting work style with the ability to become operational with minimal training.
• Demonstrated honesty and strong ethical standards.
• Open-minded, collaborative team player.
• Ability to stay focused and maintain accuracy in a production-environment with stress and deadlines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• IPC-610A training or certification, with certification preferred.
• Experience with receiving inspection and final inspection of electronic or PCB assemblies.
• PCB inspection or assembly experience is highly desired.
• Experience in medical device manufacturing environments is welcome.
• High school education or GED is preferred.
• Experience working with quality engineers or within a formal Quality Management System is beneficial.

Work Environment
The role is full-time and based in an open, clean workspace with desks and work benches assigned to each assembler and inspector. You will work closely with quality personnel, including quality engineers, in a production environment focused on electronic and PCB assemblies. The setting uses standard inspection equipment such as calipers and gauges, along with computer systems for documentation. The environment requires sustained focus, attention to detail, and comfort working around production activities while maintaining an organized and professional work area.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vista, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
