Centras Psychiatry and Behavioral Health provide important mental health services to our community through a variety of programs. We offer inpatient programs which include Acute Psychiatric Program for Children & Adolescents, an Adult Psychiatric Program, and a Geriatric Psychiatric Program. We also provide ambulatory services through Piedmont Psychiatric Center, Centra Pathways Treatment Center for persons with substance use disorders related problems and Consult Liaison Services with two hospitals. In addition, we have our new Psychiatric Emergency Center (emPATH) which opened fall of 2023. This is the first one in VA!?????

Centra Medical Group (CMG)  is a comprehensive network of nearly 600 employed providers within Centra Health. Centra Health services a population of 600,000 community members with 70 different outpatient and specialty practices. Centra offers primary care and specialty services across Central and Southern Virginiafrom Lynchburg to Danville, Farmville, Moneta, and Bedford. CMG includes family practices, specialists, and surgeons in fields such as cardiology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, urology, and more.
\n CMG is also home to the Lynchburg Family Medicine Residency, a training program for future family physicians, many of whom hold academic appointments with institutions like UVA, VCU, VCOM, and Liberty University

\n Responsibilities\n

\n

\n
• Multidisciplinary, collegial team: psychiatrists, psychologists NPs and counselors
  \n  
\n
• Robust, comprehensive behavioral health ambulatory services
  \n  
\n
• Vacation: 5.5 weeks
  \n  
\n
• Call is 1:14  and is mostly tele call
  \n  
\n
• Overnight call is not for admissions;  Nocturnist covers  overnight admissions 7 days/week. 
  \n  
\n
• Weekend rounding only when on call; Hospitalists cover inpatient unit on weekdays 
  \n  
\n
• Inpatient admission call falls exclusively to Array (external agency) 
  \n  
\n

\n Qualifications\n

\n

\n
• Completion of medical degree and residency/fellowship training in Psychiatry  
\n
• MD/DO with certification by an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) board in physician's primary specialty. Must be board certified or board eligible.
