St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hiring a Medical Secretary for our Maternal Fetal Center located within the Edgewood Hospital. Shift/Hours: Full-Time – 40 hours/week, First Shift

The Medical Secretary is responsible for supporting patient flow in a unit/department to include:

1) Customer service and registration

2) Scheduling and coordinating appointments/tests/labs/referrals

3) Assist with billing functions – perform authorizations/pre-certifications, billing preparation and payment collection

5) Completes medical transcription/dictation, medical reports, patient histories, operative notes, and correspondence; maintaining office files and patient records

6) Provides support to all clinicians for electronic medical record documentation.

Qualifications:

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

High School Diploma or GED

Secretarial related courses

Specialized Knowledge:

Medical terminology

Knowledge of transcription

PC proficient with Microsoft Word & Excel

Ability to type 40-80 wpm

Ability to operate dictation and transcription equipment

Keyboarding/ Data Entry

CPT and ICD coding

Kind and Length of Experience:

One year related office experience including: medical transcription, computer systems, scheduling, charting, filing, telephone etiquette, and customer service.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Aptitude for multitasking and organization.
