Marlin Construction Services, Inc. is seeking dependable, hardworking individuals to join our growing field operations team in Freehold, New Jersey.

We are currently hiring both experienced Heavy Equipment Operators and Site Work / Construction Laborers.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity for individuals interested in working on heavy civil construction, site development, excavation, grading, underground utilities, and related construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities will vary depending on experience and assigned position.

Heavy Equipment Operators:

• Operate excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, skid steers, and other heavy construction equipment.
• Perform excavation, grading, trenching, backfilling, and site preparation.
• Support underground utility installation, including storm drainage, sanitary sewer, and water infrastructure.
• Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and construction specifications.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and routine preventative maintenance.
• Work closely with Superintendents, Foremen, and field crews to maintain project schedules.
• Follow OSHA regulations and established equipment operating procedures.

Site Work / Construction Laborers:

• Perform general construction labor on heavy civil and site development projects.
• Assist with excavation, grading, trenching, and backfilling operations.
• Support underground utility installation and drainage projects.
• Assist equipment operators with material placement, excavation, and site preparation.
• Perform manual labor, including shoveling, raking, compacting, and moving construction materials.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, compactors, and other small construction equipment.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and organizing materials and equipment.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe construction sites.
• Follow instructions from Superintendents, Foremen, and other field personnel.

Qualifications

General Requirements:

• Previous experience in construction, excavation, site development, landscaping, or a related field preferred.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to workplace safety.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in outdoor environments.
• Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a construction crew.
• Reliable transportation to and from assigned job sites.
• Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities.

Additional Qualifications for Heavy Equipment Operators:

• Previous experience operating heavy construction equipment.
• Proficiency operating excavators, bulldozers, loaders, or similar machinery.
• Working knowledge of excavation, grading, and earthmoving operations.
• Ability to safely operate equipment around underground utilities and active construction sites.
• Experience with GPS-guided equipment is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in heavy civil construction or commercial site development.
• Familiarity with underground utility installation, trenching, and excavation.
• Experience with pipe installation, grading, compaction, or drainage systems.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• Valid driver's license.
• Experience working on commercial, municipal, or industrial construction projects.
