Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Orthopedics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Active state nursing license Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Must-Have: Experience in postoperative surgical care and general medical-surgical care Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Orthopedics. The unit has 43 private rooms. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5 during 12-hour days and 1:5-6 during 12-hour nights. Common patient diagnoses include a wide variety of medical-surgical cases and postoperative orthopedic cases. Experience in postoperative surgical care and general medical-surgical care is preferred, with 1-2 years of clinical experience being ideal. A charge nurse is present on each shift, and a house supervisor is available 24/7. Patient care technicians are available, with a typical ratio of 1:7-8. The unit utilizes CPAP and heated high flow equipment as needed, and nurses may be required to troubleshoot such equipment. Telemetry monitoring is in place, with house-wide telemetry pack monitors, and nurses are expected to interpret their own strips. Traveling nurses may be required to float to other similar medical-surgical floors occasionally. Scrubs of any color are permitted, provided a professional appearance is maintained, and tattoos and piercings must be covered. Unit-specific orientation will be provided for all new hires.
