Registered Nurse (RN) for Child and Adolescent Inpatient Mental HealthFairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Child and Adolescent Inpatient Mental Health Department at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC) West Bank location in Minneapolis, MN.At our Adolescent and Child Inpatient Mental Health unit, we're looking for dedicated individuals to join our dynamic team in providing mental health support for children and adolescents aged 10-18. We're committed to fostering therapeutic engagement through group activities, Occupational Therapy (OT), Therapeutic Recreation (TR), and other therapeutic groups to aid in our young patients' recovery journey. The shift length will be 8 hours on the evening (3pm-11:30pm) shift. You'll often find our dedicated staff engaging and playing with young patients, fostering camaraderie and support.As a Registered Nurse in the Child and Adolescent Inpatient Mental Health Department, you will be responsible for:Utilizing a systematic process to assess the physical and mental health needs of the patient, which will provide a framework from which patient care is planned.Administering medications used for the management of behavioral patients with knowledge of actions, contraindications, side effects, and desired outcomes.Evaluating the effectiveness of the nursing interventions in meeting the identified emotional, psychological, and physical needs, making revisions based on these outcomes.Monitoring and maintaining a therapeutic environment through active involvement and demonstrated response to change in patient behavior.Assessing patients on an ongoing basis for risk of violence.Using therapeutic communication skills and following the parameters of the therapeutic relationship.Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.Collaborates with patient, family, and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care.Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition, and other relevant needs.Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family, and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care.Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways, and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.Promotes a culture of evidence-based practice (EBP).MN Registered Nurse (RN) LicenseBasic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)Bachelors Degree in Nursing1 year experienceFairview offers a generous benefits package, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, PTO/vacation and Safe and Sick Time, tuition reimbursement, retirement, and more!
