Scientist - Disease Biology Discovery Research

Amgen seeks a disease biology scientist to advance preclinical drug discovery in cardiometabolic disorders. The role involves designing experiments, validating therapeutic targets, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to progress novel treatments in cardiac, cardiovascular, fibrotic, and renal diseases.

Responsibilities

• Design and independently execute in vitro and ex vivo mechanism-of-action experiments with troubleshooting and optimization
• Generate preclinical data to support validation of novel therapeutic targets and advance disease biology understanding
• Analyze and interpret experimental data with rigorous quality control and documentation
• Present research findings in written and oral formats to internal teams and external collaborators
• Contribute as key intellectual and technical member of cross-functional drug development teams

Requirements

• PhD in molecular/cell biology, or Master's degree with 2 years relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree with 4 years relevant experience
• Proficiency in cell-based and molecular techniques: qPCR, immunoprecipitation, immunoblotting, ELISA, flow cytometry, cell imaging
• Experience designing and executing in vitro and cellular assays to evaluate gene function or mechanism of action
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and record-keeping
• Experience with CRISPR, stable cell line generation, or human iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes preferred
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex datasets
• Demonstrated capacity to generate high-impact scientific publications
