Accounting Specialist IIPosition Title - Accounting Specialist IIDivision/College - University ResearchDepartment - University ResearchLocation - Moscow, Off Campus Location - Hybrid work option availablePosition Overview - The Accounting Specialist II performs a variety of accounting activities that range in level of complexity from clerical accounting duties such as managing receivables and payables, to more complex duties such as reconciling accounts and resolving accounting problems. Duties may include: Process, update and maintain various routine accounting records and documents Prepare accounting statements, billing documents and financial reports Enter, retrieve and maintain data on computerized accounting system Respond to customer inquiries Reconcile / analyze accounting records for accuracy and completeness Assist with researching and solving accounting problems Assist with determining proper classification and coding of income and expenditures Assist in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and University policy and procedures Assist customers with University policies and procedures or make referrals as necessary Collect and record payments; issue receipts Prepare and make daily bank deposits and manage change funds Take necessary action to resolve customer problems or discrepancies Interact with internal and external auditors and participate in auditing projects May process, update and maintain various complex transactions Other duties as assignedPosition QualificationsRequired Experience - Two years full-time experience providing financial or business process support within established policies and procedures, including interpreting and applying policies and procedures to practical situations Experience using computerized accounting systems or spreadsheet software to compile financial information, prepare summaries and reports A Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance may substitute for the above work experienceRequired Education - High School Diploma or equivalencyRequired Other - NoneAdditional Preferred - Education: Completion of at least one college-level accounting course with a preference for an Associate's Degree or higher in accounting or finance Experience in/with: Working in a customer service/support role Governmental fund accounting Banner Financial System Working in an area of Grant & Contract financial accounting or sponsored research administration Troubleshooting and identifying fiscal problems and discrepancies; creating and maintaining accurate records and transactions; interpreting rules, policies and proceduresPhysical Requirements & Working Conditions - NoneDegree Requirement - N/A: No degree requirementFLSA Status - Non-ExemptEmployee Category - ClassifiedPay Range - $20.14 per hour or higher depending on experienceType of Appointment - Fiscal YearFTE - 1Full Time/Part Time - Full TimePosting Date - 08/26/2026Closing DateOpen Until Filled - YesApplicant Resources - Statement - The University of Idaho is an equal employment opportunity employer, including veterans and individuals with disabilities.Applicant DocumentsRequired DocumentsResume/CVLetter of QualificationOptional DocumentsSupplemental QuestionsRequired fields are indicated with an asterisk (*).* Were you referred to this employment opportunity by a current University of Idaho employee?
