Principal Investigator – Clinical Research Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota Employment Type: Full-time / Part-time / Flexible Specialty: Family Medicine / Internal Medicine Setting: Clinical Research Site About the Opportunity A leading clinical research organisation in Minneapolis, Minnesota is seeking an experienced Physician to join its clinical research team as a Sub-Investigator (Sub-I) or Principal Investigator (PI) . This opportunity is well suited to a Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physician with previous clinical research experience who is interested in taking a greater role in the delivery and medical oversight of clinical trials. The successful physician will work closely with the site's clinical research, regulatory and operations teams, supporting the safe and compliant execution of clinical studies across a range of therapeutic areas. Key Responsibilities Serve as Sub-Investigator or Principal Investigator on assigned clinical research studies, depending on experience. Provide medical oversight throughout the clinical trial lifecycle. Conduct and/or oversee patient assessments, medical evaluations and study-related procedures. Review patient medical histories, eligibility and inclusion/exclusion criteria. Assess adverse events and provide appropriate medical management throughout studies. Review and interpret laboratory, diagnostic and clinical data. Ensure patient safety, protocol compliance and adherence to ICH-GCP and applicable FDA regulations . Participate in investigator meetings, site initiation visits and sponsor/CRO interactions. Work collaboratively with Clinical Research Coordinators and site leadership to ensure successful study execution. Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation and source records. Communicate with sponsors, CROs, monitors and other study stakeholders as required. Support recruitment, screening and retention of appropriate study participants. Contribute to the resolution of protocol deviations and other clinical issues. Provide medical guidance and mentorship to members of the research team. Ideal Candidate The organisation is particularly interested in physicians with a background in: Family Medicine Internal Medicine General Medicine or closely related specialties Candidates should have: MD or DO qualification. Current medical licensure in Minnesota or eligibility to practice in Minnesota. Previous experience participating in clinical research / clinical trials . Experience as a Sub-Investigator, Investigator, or equivalent clinical research role is highly desirable. Strong understanding of ICH-GCP and FDA clinical research requirements . Excellent clinical judgement and patient-safety focus. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with research coordinators, sponsors and CROs. A genuine interest in clinical research and advancing new therapies. Clinical Research Experience Experience across any of the following would be valuable: Phase I–IV clinical trials Investigator-initiated studies Sponsor/CRO-sponsored research Patient recruitment and screening Adverse event assessment Experience within multiple therapeutic areas is welcomed.
