POSITION SUMMARY :

The Bus driver position performs a variety of routine and complex transportation work in driving and coordinating transportation plans in support to the residents of Friends House Retirement Community.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training, Experience, and Abilities

High school diploma or GED.

1 year of relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job.


Valid Driver's License. CDL Preferred.

Clean driving record. Preferred

Must be able to read, write, and speak English as to be understood effectively by another individual.

Must be able to accomplish all responsibilities without supervision or other employee assistance after the training period is completed and do so without injury to oneself or other individuals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Bus Driver

1. Use route navigation apps and knowledge of area to deliver residents to and from various destinations
2. Interact with residents in a professional manner
3. Ensure the safety and well-being of residents
4. Instruct residents on safe riding rules and regulations.
5. Operate bus for the delivery, pickup and relocation of residents.
6. May plan route to insure most economical use of time and equipment.
7. Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations for commercial buses.
8. Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to supervisor.
9. Correct unsafe conditions in work area that could cause an accident and inform supervisor of any conditions that are not correctable immediately
10. Report all accidents, vehicle damage, resident injuries, and mechanical failures. Complete required reports.
11. Keep records on bus mileage, gas and oil consumption.
12. Keep bus clean and fueled
13. Help residents load and unload packages
14. Perform a variety of duties in the operation of Friends House Retirement Community
15. Responsible for the execution of activities mandated by law
16. Work a daily schedule that is consistent with the time demands of the designated route.
17. Work irregular hours as needed
18. Performs other duties as assigned

Must be able to lift a minimum of 70 pounds.

Moderate physical activity involved.

Emotional demands are substantial because of constant interaction with residents and staff.
