Estimating Specialist – Amsterdam, NY The Gund Company has an immediate opening for a full‑time Estimating Specialist at our Amsterdam, NY manufacturing plant. Shift: 1st, Annual Starting Salary: $64,169 – $86,623. The facility is located at 200 Wallins Corners Rd, Amsterdam, NY 12010. With 16+ facilities worldwide, we employ a consultative, engineering approach to understand customer needs and deliver outstanding service and quality. Summary : The Estimating Specialist develops accurate and competitive cost estimates, collaborates closely with Sales, Customer Service, Engineering, and Production, and ensures quotation accuracy. The role documents and administers estimating processes, supports cross‑functional communication, and leads or contributes to process improvement initiatives. Duties Become an expert in the product line, production capabilities, and cost structure to satisfy customer requirements; review specifications and drawings and coordinate any specification deviation requests. Participate in GEMBA and Kaizen activities at TGC facilities to understand and document process capability and cost structure. Develop and improve costing calculators and models by product line using TGC’s quoting calculators and Visual Estimating Window; create models that allow competitive quoting. Participate in the Quote follow‑up process to understand what it takes to earn business and work with sales and service to adjust quotations. Participate in after‑Quote reviews (AAR) to analyze customer feedback and identify improvement opportunities via Kaizen activities. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Competencies Three to five years of experience with custom manufacturing quoting processes. Outstanding Excel skills, including formulas, lookup tables, and ODBC links. Experience creating written and pictorial documentation of manufacturing processes. Experience with MS Office, ERP software, and portal access. Experience in low‑volume, high‑variety manufacturing (plus). Experience as a machinist or craftsman (plus). Experience in an ISO quality environment (plus). Associate’s degree or relevant certifications (plus). Environment Not climate controlled; subject to outdoor weather conditions. Exposure to distracting noise and sounds. Frequent exposure to fumes, dust, or chemical particles; may require respirators or other PPE. Must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds. Benefits Safe and healthy work environment.
