PRN Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Department OR Reports to OR Nurse Manager Schedule/Type PRN- onsite/hourly, M-T 10-hour shifts, with 2 shifts per month, minimum requirement Wage $51 per hour Bonus Eligibility No Requirements Essential Duties Performs circulating functions before surgery, including preparing the operating environment, orienting and assessing the patient, and reviewing the patient’s medical record and surgeon’s notes to ensure all prerequisites and preferences are met. Ensures safety checklists and procedures are implemented and documented at all times. Performs circulating functions during surgery, including monitoring and communicating patient condition, documenting interventions and activities, monitoring the sterile field, and controlling traffic into, out of, and around the operating room suite. Assists with scrub functions, including the preparation, selection, and handling of instruments and supplies used during the surgical procedure. Performs surgical counts with the surgical tech/scrub nurse. Provides nursing care to a high-acuity surgical patient population in a technically demanding environment. Within the scope of the job, it requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Utilization of intelligence and critical thinking in decision-making. Advanced understanding of human anatomy and physiology. Proficiency in using specialized medical equipment for surgical care. Ability to conduct and interpret diagnostic tests for intervention. Knowledge of community resources for patient care continuity. Competence in reading and applying technical instructions. Ensuring patient safety and security during medication use. Consistent practice of hand hygiene and aseptic techniques Upholding patient privacy in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Experience Required 2 years of OR nursing (RN) experience. Previous ASC experience in an Orthopedic setting preferred. Education / Certification Requirements Degree in Nursing: Bachelor's Preferred Current Colorado Registered Nurse license BCLS & ACLS certification required.
