The OB Hospitalist will be responsible for: Management of labor up to and including delivery, as requested by generalist physicians Urgent postpartum care as requested by the assigned physician Providing back-up and consultation for midwifery service Caring for all unassigned patients who present to the OB Unit or Emergency Room Triage of all patients who present to the unit unless directly admitted When requested, assist in cesarean deliveries Communicate with Maternal Fetal Medicine on consults & actions when requested Level III maternity center Level III NICU 24hr dedicated OB anesthesia Specialty Assets: Access to Level III Maternity and NICU facilities at Carmel and in-house OB-specific anesthesiology at Carmel and Fishers. Collaborative Culture: Partner closely with a highly integrated nursing team and four distinct OB groups to optimize delivery and triage workflows. Clinical Excellence: Lead emergency GYN surgical interventions, managing high-acuity cases including ectopics and ovarian torsions with full specialty support. Outcome-Focused Triage: Drive unit efficiency by managing all triage arrivals and ER consults, ensuring seamless continuity of care. Requirements: Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Call Schedule: dedicated on-site call coverage with frequency and responsibilities as noted above Projected 2000 deliveries/year. What minimum qualifications you'll need Licensure / Certification / Registration: Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Indiana Medical Licensing Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required. What additional preferences you'll need Surgical Proficiency: Physicians who are comfortable performing emergency GYN surgeries independently.
