Out of Parkrose: Full credit shall be granted for each year of full-time professionally or academically licensed experience in the public schools, grades K-12. For non- teachers, the experience must be related to the District assignment. Substitute teaching shall not be counted unless it was done on a full-time contract basis. Credit for experience related to the District assignment in districts outside Parkrose will not be given for a part of a year unless two (2) or fewer segments will total at least one hundred thirty-five (135) days.

- A valid Oregon teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement from the Teacher Standards and PracticesCommission (TSPC) is required upon hiring. It is the employee's responsibility to maintain their license and acquirethe necessary credits to renew.
- If the posted position is within the CORE academic area, you must be designated as highly qualified by both TSPC andthe State of Oregon to teach the CORE subject (ECE/ELE multiple subjects self-contained endorsement)

Position Details Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate an understanding of child development, birth to age eight.
- Understand and recognize the children's backgrounds including the languages and cultures of
- the home in planning classroom environments and experiences, and possess skills to engage students
- and communicate with individuals from varied educational and cultural backgrounds
- Communicate clearly and appropriately to families about the education of their children in a
- variety of ways (i.e. home visits, weekly journal, conferences).
- Demonstrate playful inquiry approaches to learning through the arts and sciences, with an
- emphasis on developing student agency and Habits of Mind.
- Develop and use an emerging curriculum aligned with Early Learning Division and district
- goals and standards.
- Use restorative and community based practices for supporting student behavior.
- Maintain an inviting classroom environment with a rich array of culturally appropriate
- materials from the arts and sciences that are organized and accessible to young learners.
- Using a variety of observation and documentation tools as provided to the program,
- assesses the development and learning of students on a regular basis, and uses the compiled
- information to plan instruction, and to maintain records using Habits of Mind Developmental
- Rubrics.
- Learn and use the technology tools required to document and record student
- learning outcomes in Habits of Mind Developmental Rubrics.
- Participate in the mentorship program provided by Teaching Preschool Partners.
- Participate as a Prescott prek-2 learning team member in the investigation of inquiry
- approaches
- Host visiting educators interested in observing inquiry approaches to learning.
- Develop and maintain the classroom in accordance with Oregon ODE/ELD health and safety
- requirements as well as all relevant early learning and public education requirements and
- standards.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
- Work in partnership with program consultants, classroom assistants, and other support staff
- (ELD specialists, classroom volunteers, etc.) to implement Inquiry Approaches and to
- maintain a learning environment for playful inquiry and exploration supporting all learners.
- Work collaboratively with staff, administration, families and with Prescott's
- partner agencies as needed to support children's learning and development. Establishing
- and maintaining open lines of communication with staff, students and their families
- concerning both the physical, cognitive and social and emotional development of students; working
- in partnership with school secretaries to support enrollment; conducting developmental
- screenings; connecting families to needed resources; planning and implementing family engagement
- activities, and other partnership activities designed to support children and families.
- Support the transition of children and families to kindergarten.
- Attend the Pre-K teaching team monthly meeting, all faculty and building meetings, carries
- out co-curricular activities, and serves on school and district committees upon request.
- Supervise students in and out of the classroom. Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspectedsubstance abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students.
- Assist in the selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials.
- Assist in preparing budget, compliance reporting, and instructional materials.
- Carry out any other job-related duties as assigned by administrative request.
- Directs educational assistants, volunteers and/or student aides for the purpose of providing an effective class programand addressing the needs of individual students.
- Performs other duties which may be assigned.
- Participate in District sponsored in-service offerings, PLC meetings, etc. appropriate to assignment
- Assist other teachers for the purpose of implementing curriculum
- Regular attendance at work and activities must be maintained
- Punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings and following schedules
- Maintains confidential information relating to students, families and colleagues
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance (cost to the employee: $12.50 for fingerprints at the time of registration; $75.00 for criminal background check will be paid through a one-time payroll deduction)
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification, or the ability to obtain
- In an eight (8) hour day the teacher may:
- Stand/walk - 3 - 6 hours
- Sit - 2 - 4 hours
- The teacher will need:
- Near/far visual acuity, depth perception. unaffected field of vision, unaffected hearing and the ability toevacuate students from classrooms/buildings
- The teacher may occasionally:
- Bend, kneel, squat, climb stairs or ladders. use hands for repetitive motions and lift/carry/reach
