RN - PACU


Job Details:


• Start times range from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM with end times between 6:30 PM and 7:30 PM
• Heavy call requirements: Minimum 2 nights per week from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM
• Weekend call requirements: Minimum 1 weekend every 2-3 weeks from Friday to Monday
• Scheduling is based on the needs of the unit with no self-scheduling
• Rotating holiday and call requirements
• Call response time of 30 minutes required
• Covers both Phase 1 and Phase 2 PACU care
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1 or 1:2 in Phase 1, 1:3 or 1:4 in Phase 2
• Common cases include orthopedics, spine, ENT, general surgery, vascular, OB/GYN, plastics, and urology
• ICU patients recover in PACU
• RNs are required to read strips
• May be floated to attached outpatient surgery center for similar care including endoscopy, orthopedic, and pain clinic patients
• RT equipment includes BiPAP (minimal use) and oral airways
• Nurse aides are shared and cover all areas including pre-op, post-op, and PACU
• Charge nurses take patient assignments
• Charting system: Cerner EMR
• Scrubs are provided; dedicated shoes required
• Unit/department-specific orientation: 1-2 days
• Minimum 1 year of recent PACU experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA)
• BSN not required
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility


Facility:


This acute care facility is a Level 3 Trauma Center offering a comprehensive range of surgical and post-anesthesia care services. The PACU department manages both Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery and supports a wide variety of surgical specialties including orthopedics, spine, vascular, and women's health. The facility utilizes Cerner as its electronic medical records system and maintains high standards for patient care across all units.
