Who are we looking for?
GHD has an exciting opportunity for a Wastewater/Water Treatment Plant Operator to be based on location in Questa, NM. As a Wastewater/Water Operator, you will be working with the Contamination Assessment Remediation Group. This position offers a variety of work and you will support a diversity of projects in a challenging and unique setting. You will interface directly with clients, oversee and direct contractors, be largely responsible for your own work, and become a trusted point of contact for our client.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Solutions Analysis: Find the most effective ways to respond to routine functional inquiries. Involves following procedures and precedents.
- Testing: Develop product specifications and design test procedures and standards.
- Project Management: Support others by carrying out a range of project management activities.
- Insights and Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of various data and analytics reports.
- Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching. Develop and maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.
- Product and Solution Development: Carry out a range of product development and engineering activities. Use established systems to analyze customer needs and define and deliver products.
- Work Scheduling and Allocation: Design own monthly schedule and, if necessary, assign work to others in order to speed up office workflow and ensure high-priority tasks get done.
- Equipment Installation: Help specialists set up and test new products or processes; install complex systems with guidance.
- Plant and Machinery Maintenance and Repair: Maintain and repair complex plant and machinery and supervise the work of team members and contractors to ensure that the plant and machinery meet operational requirements, including conformance with regulatory and organizational health, safety, and environmental standards.
Education
- High School education required
Experience
- New Mexico Environmental Department (NMED) Grade 3 Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification and NMED Grade 3 Wastewater Operator Certification
- Prior Wastewater Treatment Plant experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for periods of time, ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds, and ability to work outdoors part-time throughout the year as needed
- Ability to analyze field readings, data and operating parameters to optimize system operations
- Must have an Arizona driver's license and a clean driving record

- NMED Grade 4 Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification
- NMED Grade 4 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certification
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
