Ultrasound Technician
Centers For Pain Control
PURPOSE:The Ultrasound Technician performs and evaluates ultrasonic diagnostic procedures in accordance with Centers for Pain Control protocols as directed by physicians. The Ultrasound Technician reports to the Ultrasound Team Supervisor for support and additional request as required.ACCOUNTABILITIES AND JOB ACTIVITIES:Instruct patients regarding procedures to ensure cooperation and optimum test resultsFollow prescribed safety standards in operating equipmentMaintain ultrasound and vascular lab equipment in appropriate operating conditionMaintain examination rooms and work areas. Inventory, order request and stock all vascular lab suppliesMaintain accurate department records, reports and files as directedMaintain confidentiality of sensitive informationWork as a team member within the ultrasound department and all other departmentsDocument work processes as requiredPerform other duties as assignedCustomer RelationsMaintain patient confidentiality at all times as evidenced by observationRespect the rights, property, and privacy of all customers as evidenced by observationMeet customers’ needs and expectations as evidenced by the use of communication skills and actions taken on behalf of patients, families and visitorsFoster an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation through communication and cooperation with all members of the health care team as evidenced by observationManage conflict in a positive and constructive manner as evidenced by observationResponsibilities of a Diagnostic SonographerProperly identify patients by checking the identification and comparing with the information on the chart as evidenced by observation and documentationVerify patient consent is signed and accurately completedReview medical records for appropriate information as specified in the company policies & proceduresPrepare the Operating Room for the patient by obtaining proper equipment and supplies for intraoperative care as evidenced by documentation and observationEnsure a safe environment for the patient by following proper aseptic techniques, care and operation of all surgical and emergency equipment as observedMonitor all patients receiving conscious sedation or local anesthesia according to established policies and proceduresAssist in properly positioning the patient on the procedure tableRecord, handle, and label specimens as documentedAssist with dressings and prepare patient for transport to the Recovery RoomInitiate lifesaving measures, such as CPR, in emergency situations as observedSafety and Sanitation RequirementsWear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when in contact with the patient, bodily fluids or hazardous materialsWear lead when radiological equipment in useClean and sanitize any spills immediatelyMaintain a safe environment for the employees and patients at all timesSterilize probes after each useMaintain sterilization logs and maintenance of small sterilizersInitiate lifesaving measures, such as CPR, in emergency situations as observedDevelop and maintain personal and professional skillsAttend all mandatory staff meetings per year unless excused as evidenced by documentationAttend mandatory in-services and a minimum of two pertinent in-services per year as documentedActively participate in performance improvement activities as observed or documentedEstablish realistic professional goals as evidenced by the annual performance evaluationActively keep abreast of departmental and organizational activitiesDemonstrate flexibility in response to unexpected change in workload or situations as observedServes on committees and/or participates in changes of policy and procedures that affect the operation of services as documentedAssist in the orientation of new personnel as directedSupport the mission and goals of the company as observedAddress all emails within 24 hours as documentedPerform other duties as requiredDemonstrate safe and cost-effective practiceConsistently adhere to OSHA bloodborne pathogen guidelines;
