CTR Group is seeking a Pipefitter local to the Norfolk, VA area. Immediate openings and urgently hiring! What We Offer: Weekly Pay – you receive a paycheck every week Comprehensive Benefits Package Safety First! Pay: $20 to $30 depending on experience

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assures that tank/compartment has an updated safe for hot work ticket and that requirements of the ticket have been met. (Example: ventilation, lighting, safety equipment etc.)
• Assures that conditions of the tank/compartment have not changed since the ticket was written. (Example: fuel run back, unsafe working conditions, etc.)
• Assures that a Work Authorization Form (WAF) ticket is on the job site and that it is for the specific job being accomplished, no work will be accomplished without a WAF posted at location of repairs.
• Assures that any other safety issues are complied with that relate to the specific job being accomplished (Example: special staging, face shields for grinding, protective clothing for hot work-related jobs, breathing apparatus with correct cartridges, etc.)
• Assures that the company's Safety Procedures, including testing, are utilized for all torch work.
• Assures that you and personnel working under your direction are working as safely and as productively as possible maintaining quality control at all times.
• Assures that a 30-minute cool down period has been accomplished in hot work areas.
• Assures that fire watches are assigned and maintained in the proper position.
• Assures that the job site is left in a safe and clean condition prior to departure.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints/sketches and install all piping systems aboard ship.
• Ability to fit/install backing rings, E.B. rings.
• Ability to fit and install mechanically attached fittings.
• Ability to thread piping and to tap holes to proper sizes.
• Knowledge of P-1 and Level 1 piping systems.
• Ability to install pipe hangers/supports IAW applicable hanger drawings.
• Ability to perform shop prefab on piping systems using sketches/templates developed from blueprints and ship check.
• Knows and understands tag out procedures for piping systems using sketches templates developed from blueprints prior to working on ships' piping system.
• Be able to accomplish tag out of systems safe for work IAW work authorization form (WAF).
• Knowledgeable on pipe bending and able to bend piping manually or by machine, utilizing templates/sketches and packing piping to avoid contortion.
• Ability to prep piping for welding using grinders or beveling machines and know/understand different types of bevels.
• Knowledge of various types of pipe and fitting materials and the proper material application in regard to piping system requirements.
• Knowledge of valve types and properly packing of valves.
• Knowledge of bolting requirements, i.e., various material types/requirements for flange bolting.
• Knowledge of MIL-STD-777 (the various types of pipe and fitting material and the proper material application in regard to piping system requirements.)
• Ability to set up and perform hot water flushing on sil-braze piping systems.
• Ability to sil-braze.
• Ability to properly fit flanged joints to include proper gaskets and fasteners.
• Knowledge of hot work.
• Ability to hydrostatic test piping systems using approved hydro procedures.
• Familiar with safety regulations.
