Location: Gumbo Limbo Nature Center

Schedule: Monday 11:30 am - 4:30 pm Thursday 11:30 am - 4:30 pm Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm Saturday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm Weekend, Evenings, and Holidays as required.

General Definition of Work: Performs intermediate paraprofessional clerical work and assists with the daily operations of the community center and box office; provides customer service in a municipal office setting. Work is performed under general supervision.

Essential Functions

• Completes lead work in box office and at front desk.
• Provides exceptional customer service.
• Provides research and analysis of various programs.
• Implements customer service training programs.
• Resolves customer issues.
• Processes customer refunds and cancellations.
• Handles token machine cash outs and money collection.
• Relays accurate information to the public.
• Acts as a receptionist, answers telephone inquiries.
• Operates standard office equipment.
• Provides tours to new staff and to the public.
• Provides back-up for ride operators.
• Creates spreadsheets to track attendance figures.
• Completes daily deposits.
• Maintains and updates customer records.

• Prepares and checks forms, records, and applications for accuracy, completeness, and conformity to established standards.
• Creates flyers, signs, posters, and other promotional materials as needed.
• Assists with special events.
• Assists with room set-ups and breakdowns.
• Performs related tasks as related.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of: Standard office practices, procedures, equipment, and clerical techniques.

Skilled in: Microsoft Office programs, business English, spelling and arithmetic.

Ability to: Make arithmetical calculations and file alphabetically. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Operate basic video and audio equipment. Learn new computer programs.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. Two (2) years of experience with Microsoft applications. Two (2) years of experience with cash handling. Two (2) years of customer service and office work experience.

Special Requirements: Possession of a valid State of Florida Class "E" driver's license with no more than six (6) points in a three (3) year period.

Post Offer Pre-Employment Screening Requirements: Final offer and employment are contingent upon successful completion of the following post-offer, pre-employment screening items: Criminal Background Check, Employment Verification, Credit Check.

Special Requirements: Must be able to demonstrate tennis center software proficiency within three (3) months of hire.

Physical and Environmental Demands and Conditions

• Occasionally ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like
• Occasionally moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces
• Occasionally adjusting or moving objects up to 25 pounds in all directions
• Occasionally lifting/carrying objects 30 pounds or less
• Occasionally pushing/pulling objects 30 pounds or less
• Occasionally working in a normal office environment with few physical discomforts
• Occasionally working in an area that is somewhat uncomfortable due to drafts, noise, temperature variation, or the like
• Continuously remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
• Continuously communicating with others to exchange information
• Continuously repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
• Continuously operating a computer and other equipment using motions requiring manual dexterity or fine motor skills

• Continuously having regular in-office attendance

Essential Employee Designation

When normal operations of City departments are suspended or interrupted due to a declaration that a state of emergency exists, any employee may be deemed essential by the City. For the preparation and/or continuation of emergency operations or for special work detail, employees deemed necessary shall be required to work.

Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible to receive Paid Leave and to contribute to the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, a part-time employee must have worked at least 1,040 hours in the prior fiscal year.

Paid Leave: Employees who work a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year will receive twelve (12) hours of Paid Leave on October 1st. This Paid Leave shall be used no later than September 30th of that fiscal year or it will be forfeited. These hours may not accumulate and may only be granted with the approval of the employee's supervisor. This paid leave has no cash value at separation of employment.

Mission Square 457 Deferred Compensation Plan: Employees who work a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year will be allowed to participate in the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan. The City will not provide any matching funds.
