Environmental Health Safety Coordinator

Pinnacle Recruitment Services is seeking an experienced California-based Environmental Compliance Coordinator to support our client's growing environmental compliance program. This position serves as an intermediate-level role between Environmental Compliance Technicians and environmental leadership, providing hands-on support for environmental inspections, regulatory compliance, field operations, and compliance program administration.
This is a temp-to-hire opportunity with the opportuning to convert to a permanent position after approximately six months.
Job Location
- Candidates should be located within reasonable driving distance of Kern County or San Bernardino County project sites.
- Regular travel throughout California is required.
- Approximately 40% field-based work, including occasional overnight travel.
Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental compliance inspections and assessments at construction and operational project sites.
- Review permit requirements and environmental regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Perform field observations, monitoring activities, and environmental sampling as required.
- Document findings, prepare reports, and track compliance obligations using established systems and procedures.
- Coordinate with project managers, site personnel, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
- Support environmental audits, agency inspections, and compliance reviews.
- Maintain environmental compliance records and assist with regulatory reporting requirements.
- Deliver compliance guidance and training to field personnel as needed.
- Utilize Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and other compliance tracking tools to manage documentation and reporting.
- Work independently in both office and field environments while supporting multiple project sites.
Requirements
- 3+ years of environmental compliance, environmental consulting, environmental field services, or related experience.
- Experience conducting environmental inspections, audits, monitoring, or sampling activities.
- Experience working directly with regulatory agencies and environmental compliance programs.
- Strong understanding of environmental permits, compliance requirements, and regulatory processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
- Experience utilizing SharePoint or similar document management systems preferred.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple priorities.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly to project sites.
Preferred Experience
- Environmental consulting experience.
- Experience supporting renewable energy, utility, construction, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with agencies such as CUPA, DTSC, Regional Water Quality Control Boards, Air Quality Management Districts, or similar regulatory entities.
- Experience with environmental sampling, inspections, permitting, and compliance reporting.
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to quickly learn new systems and software.
Work Schedule
- Standard working hours: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM with occasional overtime
- Full-Time, Contract-to-Hire
Compensation
- $33.00 – $40.00 per hour
