Job Description

This role focuses on performing preventive maintenance and repairs on yard trucks, with a strong emphasis on diesel, electrical, and emission systems. You will diagnose complex issues, complete repairs efficiently, and maintain accurate documentation while following strict safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on yard trucks to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Diagnose and repair electrical systems, including wiring, battery systems, and related components.
• Conduct computer-based diagnostics and perform emission system repairs, including work on DPF/DEF systems.
• Execute welding and fabrication tasks as needed to support equipment repair and modification.
• Repair and maintain air brake systems to meet safety and performance standards.
• Use technical schematics and diagnostic tools to identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and documentation for all maintenance and repair activities.
• Follow all safety protocols and consistently use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Collaborate with team members and communicate findings, repair needs, and completed work clearly and professionally.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by leadership to support the maintenance operation.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in diesel mechanics or a closely related field.
• Hands-on experience with diesel engines, preventive maintenance, and mechanical repairs.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, including wiring, schematics, and diagnosis.
• Experience working with hydraulics and related components.
• Familiarity with DPF/DEF systems and emission-related repairs.
• Ability to interpret and work from technical schematics and diagnostic information.
• Basic computer skills for diagnostics, service records, and documentation.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and perform physical tasks such as stooping, climbing, and kneeling.
• Capability to work safely in an outdoor, equipment-heavy environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Ownership of a complete set of quality hand tools (preferred).
• Experience with welding and fabrication in a maintenance or repair setting.
• Experience in maintaining air brake systems on heavy-duty equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Solid communication skills to document work clearly and interact effectively with team members.

Work Environment

You will work primarily outdoors at port facilities, servicing yard trucks and related equipment in an active industrial setting. The position follows a first-shift schedule, typically 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with additional hours from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. as needed. The environment involves exposure to weather conditions, heavy equipment, and operational noise, and requires consistent use of appropriate PPE and adherence to safety procedures.

This is a Permanent position based out of Garden City, GA.

The pay range for this position is $43860.00 - $72800.00/yr.
