Registered Nurse

Job Description

Seeking a detail-oriented Registered Nurse to support a part-time research initiative in Menlo Park, CA. This role will focus on sample processing, documentation, and lab-related procedures to ensure accurate handling and storage of collected specimens. This individual will also support operational readiness by providing input on required equipment for blood draw procedures and specimen processing workflows.

Schedule:

Part-time: 20 hours per week

Monday to Friday: 8am – 12pm

Duration: 4 months, starting week of June 29 th

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• 3+ years’ experience as a Registered Nurse
• Hands-on experience using a pipette in a lab or clinical setting
• Experience operating a centrifuge and handling biological samples
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions
• Ability to advise on required equipment and setup for blood draws and specimen processing

Responsibilities

• Complete and manage the sample collection process for 2 research participants per day
• Utilize a butterfly needle to perform phlebotomy blood draws
• Perform blood sample processing, including centrifugation for required time intervals
• Monitor specimens to ensure proper separation into designated layers
• Aliquot plasma into multiple tubes following established protocols
• Properly store samples in freezers or prepare them for transport/shipment
• Maintain a high standard of accuracy and compliance with lab procedures and protocols
• Advise on and help determine necessary equipment and supplies for blood draws and specimen processing
• Report to and collaborate with the supervising research team for this study
