About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief Development Officer to join its executive leadership team. The Chief Development Officer will be responsible for external leadership and donor engagement, team management, and organizational leadership. They must have at least 12 years' of experience in development and fundraising, a proven track record of driving revenue growth, and the ability to lead a team of high-performing fundraising professionals. The role requires a creative approach to fundraising, knowledge of the philanthropic landscape, and the ability to balance multiple responsibilities with a focus on the mission of the organization. Applicants for the Chief Development Officer position at the company should be ambitious, experienced, and creative, with a strong background in managing and supporting teams. The role demands a candidate with a B.A. degree, at least 12 years' of experience in development and fundraising, and a proven ability to meet annual fundraising targets of $17M or more. The ideal candidate will have a background in the philanthropic landscape, particularly within the sectors of journalism, criminal justice, democracy, or social justice. They should be adept at identifying and soliciting major gifts, and have experience in managing a fundraising team and engaging with a nonprofit board. The Chief Development Officer will work closely with the CEO, CFO, and other executive team members, and must be prepared to travel and work in a remote, dynamic environment.
