Members First Credit Union is seeking an Assistant Branch Manager I at our Gladwin Branch.
Play a pivotal role in the daily success of our Gladwin Branch. As an Assistant Branch Manager I, you'll partner with the Branch Leader to oversee branch operations, support teller functions, and help create an efficient, member-focused environment where employees and members can thrive.
- Deliver on the Credit Union’s Promises with each service interaction.
- Supervise the activities of teller operations area by assigning work, answering questions, solving problems, helping with complex transactions, and sensitive member relations problems. Explain policies and procedures to members as a communication tool. Assists Branch Leader with hiring of new staff.
- Ensure that staff is trained and cross trained in all phases of their particular jobs to ensure the delivery of quality service and accurate transactions.
- Evaluate the job performance of subordinates to ensure quality member service and performance expectations are reached for each member of the team.
- Ensure that the branch meets performance goals as established by the Credit Union.
- Collaborate with Branch Leader for training in coaching the team and expectations of documentation
- Is responsible for the branch when the Branch Leader is out of the office.
- This position is an in branch/office role, must be available to work 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. M-F, Saturday coverage as needed, and some outside of normal working hours for meetings and/or education/trainings.
- The ability to attain State of Michigan Credit Producers License within 6 months of lending training
- Successfully obtain Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) designation through America's Credit Unions within first year of service with M1
- Analyze the workflow on an on-going basis to determine staffing requirements. Oversee work schedule for full-time and part-time employees in the teller area to ensure proper service to the membership.
- Approve member exceptions, provide overrides, and authorize fee refunds to members when deemed necessary.
- Investigate teller losses and institute corrective flow of work and/or corrective disciplinary action where required.
- Creating an environment of teamwork between all front line departments that will facilitate a deeper relationship with the membership thus reaching the branch goals that have been set.
- Oversee the daily ATM balancing, Vault, Cash Dispenser, and Coin Machine.
- Order and verifies cash order from Fed weekly.
- Establish, monitor, and improve initiatives/procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of member services without decreasing the audit trail and security of any entries and to ensure that all record keeping is current and accurate.
- Train with Branch Leader on the Credit Union progressive discipline process
- Provide time clock support in the absence of the Branch Leader
- Successfully use effective Sales Champion skills and behaviors.
- Coach employees to maximize opportunities to sell products and services that will benefit the membership.
- Build relationships with current and new members. Offer products and services that will help to fulfill their financial needs.
- Ensure that members are receiving a high level of service from all employees at the branch.
- Operate and balance a cash drawer as needed.
- Create opportunities for expanded member relationships by determining the needs for additional products and services; recommend appropriate credit union solutions.
- Process member’s service transactions as requested.
- Remind delinquent members that their payments are due.
- Thoroughly explain products and services to members. Prepare and process documentation for new accounts, explain regulation documents, and collect share deposit.
- Understand how to read and explain a credit report.
- Assist with the new accounts auditing process.
- Prepare an adverse action letter when products are denied.
- Be knowledgeable in HSA/IRA laws, contribution limitations, and paperwork.
- Attain State of Michigan Credit Producers License within 6 months of lending training.
- Review loan applications prepared by loan officers to assist with making decisions as needed.
- Conduct loan interviews. Process, approve and/or close loans as needed.
- Answer Telephones and handle member inquiries.
- Attend education functions as required.
- Extensive knowledge of the Credit Union’s products, services, policies and procedures.
- Maintain comprehensive, up-to-date knowledge of all State and Federal regulations that are applicable to the transactions performed in the cashier/teller area.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Effectively apply and maintain financial counseling concepts, gained through America's Credit Unions' Financial Counseling Certification Program (FiCEP), to promote financial well-being
- Ability to move or transport up to 25 pounds
- Able to remain stationary for 2-4 hours at a time
- Must maintain a neat and orderly work area.
- Routinely clean and disinfect work areas (i.e. teller stations, desk surfaces, phones, electronic equipment).
- Protect the confidentiality of credit union staff and members by locking door or removing items from desk/workstation when away.
- Minimum High School Graduate or equivalent
- Minimum of one-year of previous banking/credit union experience
- Good working knowledge of all credit union products and services
- Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
