Surgical Technologist - Cardiac Operating Room

Position: Surgical Technologist - Operating Room, Cardiac Team

Full Time, Days 10 hour shifts

This position is responsible for assisting the Surgical team during Cardiac Surgery (CVOR) operative procedures by performing a variety of technical duties to primarily assist in responsibility for the preparation and maintenance of the surgical sterile field for the operative patient.


The Cardiac team uses a variety of specialized equipment to assist the physician in the performance of invasive procedures resulting in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac and peripheral vascular disease.

Job Duties:

• Arranges and inventories sterile set-up for operation and passes items as needed to the surgical team.
• Understands and applies the principles of asepsis. Establishes and maintains sterile field and assures team maintains sterile environment.
• Assists in preparation and moving of patients.
• Assists physician in performing invasive procedures.
• Scrubs in for handling guide wires, catheter, flushing catheters, and other scrub duties as assigned.
• Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instrumentation. Assists with clean-up and room turnover.
• Access computer information as needed, such as preference lists and digital images.
• Performs pre-procedural patient care activities.
• Monitors and records patient's condition and procedures' progress.
• Retrieves and reviews patient data.
• Operates and maintains clinical equipment.
• Participates in all safety initiatives.
• Adheres to programs such as SCIP and SCOAP quality initiatives.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


- Accredited Program Required: Surgical Technology or recognized course of training as a Surgical Technologist


-Demonstrated knowledge of an ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient's needs

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years required of CVOR surgical technologist experience.

Minimum of 2 years working previously in a hospital setting.
