Radiologic Technologist/Mammographer

The Radiologic Technologist/Mammographer must possess the skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served in their assigned unit. The individual must also demonstrate an understanding of the principles of growth and development throughout the life span, and the ability to assess data reflective of patient status, interpreting the necessary information to identify each patient's needs, and deliver appropriate care as outlined in departmental policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide radiographic and sonographic examinations for diagnostic interpretation, exercising professional judgment and applying radiation protection principles.
• Perform diagnostic medical radiography/sonography in various areas as needed.
• Maintain patient records and files accurately.
• Assume responsibility for the department's quality assurance program.
• Pursue continuing education in the field of radiology.
• Transfer patients to and from radiology safely.
• In the absence of a supervisor, take responsibility for the department's operations.
• Participate in departmental hygiene and upkeep.
• Be available for call and report to work promptly as needed.
• Willingness to learn additional imaging modalities as assigned.

Mammography Duties

• Conduct breast needle localization and specimen radiography.
• Perform quality control, screening, diagnostic, and stereotactic breast biopsy procedures.
• Pursue ongoing education, achieving CEU Mammography credits annually as required.
• Complete a minimum number of documented mammograms per year to comply with regulatory standards.

CT/Interventional Responsibilities

• Ensure the proper care and maintenance of equipment in the CT area.
• Assist with invasive procedures and maintain up-to-date knowledge of these practices.
• Consult with referring physicians to ensure quality interventional care.
• Adhere to standard precautions and be competent in sterile techniques.
• Participate actively in inventory management of supplies.
• Conduct daily/weekly quality control checks.

Qualifications

• Current ARRT certification in Radiography.
• BLS certification required within the first 45 days of employment.
• Clinical competency must be achieved within three months of hire and maintained every three years.
• Experience performing all diagnostic exams relevant to assigned modalities.
• Additional qualifications vary by technician level, which may include certifications in multiple modalities or specific areas of expertise.

This is a full-time position requiring flexibility in shift rotations, with no specific holiday coverage required. Travel may be necessary to provide services to various locations within the region.
