Research Associate I/II - Exploratory R&D

BioLegend is looking for a Research Associate to join the Exploratory R&D team. The role focuses on new cell culture reagent product development and support of existing products. Key responsibilities include assessing feasibility and launching new products by creating and executing optimized cell culture models, collaborating with manufacturing and quality control teams on technology transfers, and troubleshooting issues associated with current products. Candidates must have strong mammalian cell culture experience, organized documentation practices, and proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with small‑ and large‑scale antibody production is a plus. Essential Functions Design experiments with supervisor scientists. Conduct experiments and analyze results independently. Lead laboratory activities such as training, ordering supplies, and managing inventories. Create SOPs and other product‑development documentation. Troubleshoot cell‑based assays. Perform relevant primary and cell line culture. Quantify and characterize antibodies using SDS‑PAGE, ELISA, flow cytometry, and other techniques. Implement process improvements on cell culture. Maintain ISO‑compliant documentation. Work independently and as part of a team. Multi‑task and thrive in a fast‑paced, goal‑driven environment. Communicate effectively with R&D, Product Development, Manufacturing, and Quality Control teams. Participate in other projects or responsibilities as needed. Minimum Qualifications – Education And Experience B.S. or M.S. in Biology, Immunology, or a related field. At least 2 years of relevant experience in an academic or industry laboratory. 1–2+ years of cell culturing experience. 1–2+ years of experience with SDS‑PAGE, ELISA, and flow cytometry. Preferred Qualifications – Education And Experience Experience culturing and handling primary cells such as PBMCs and adult stem/progenitor cells. Experience in cell‑based assays. Experience in development or characterization of antibodies (Ig quantification, flow cytometry, etc.). Work Environment & Physical Demands The position is performed in a laboratory setting with occasional data entry on a computer and exposure to a warehouse environment. Physical demands include handling, operating tools, and reaching with hands and arms, standing, talking, and hearing. Working hands and fingers to manipulate objects and moving tools or equipment are common tasks. Compensation Compensation varies by level and experience. A Research Associate I is expected to earn $22.00–$29.00 per hour. The final offer will consider internal equity, location, skills, experience, and education. Base pay is one component of the total compensation package, which may also include bonuses, equity, and other benefits.
