Maintenance Technician/Mechanic - 1st or 3rd Shift

This role oversees and participates in daily maintenance operations on 1st or 3rd shift within a food manufacturing environment. You will lead a team of maintenance technicians, ensure equipment reliability through preventive maintenance, and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and facility systems to support safe and efficient production.

Pay: $32 - $40/hr

Responsibilities:

• Oversee preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and keep all equipment in safe and reliable working order.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and facility issues using structured root cause analysis methods.
• Diagnose and repair issues involving hydraulics, pneumatics, and other industrial systems to restore equipment functionality.
• Coordinate specialized repairs, upgrades, and capital projects with external contractors and service providers.
• Ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulations and lead safety training initiatives for the maintenance team.
• Promote a strong safety culture by modeling safe work practices and enforcing safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, logs, and equipment histories within the CMMS.
• Collaborate closely with production and other departments to minimize downtime and improve equipment uptime.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure timely availability of parts, equipment, and services.
• Support adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food manufacturing standards in all maintenance activities.

Essential Skills:

• 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment - preferably food manufacturing
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and facility systems.
• Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance programs in an industrial setting.
• Working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics in production equipment.
• Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and related software tools.
• Experience working with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food manufacturing standards.
• Strong troubleshooting skills using root cause analysis to resolve recurring equipment issues.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
• Solid understanding of safety standards and safe work practices in industrial maintenance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience in a bakery or similar warm production environment.
• Familiarity with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) programs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead and mentor a maintenance team.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external contractors.
• Organizational skills to maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Vendor relationship management experience for parts, equipment, and service procurement.

Work Environment:

This is a 1st or 3rd shift position with hours from 6:00am - 3:00pm Monday through Friday, or 10:00pm - 7:00am, Sunday - Thursday with occasional overtime and Saturday work as needed based on production demands. The role is based in a food manufacturing facility, specifically a bakery environment, where you will work around ovens and warmer conditions. The facility operates under strict GMP requirements, and you will follow a defined dress code that includes wearing a hair net, beard net as applicable, steel-toe footwear, smocks, and safety glasses. You will regularly work around industrial equipment and production lines, using maintenance tools, CMMS software, and safety equipment to perform your duties safely and effectively.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Permanent position based out of South Milwaukee, WI.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $66560.00 - $83200.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
