School Mental Health Therapist (2026–2027 School Year) – Contract Role
Location: Marion, SC 29571
Schedule: Full-Time, School Calendar – 37.5 hours per week
Start Date: August, 2026
Employment Type: Contract (via ProCare Therapy)
About the Opportunity
ProCare Therapy is actively hiring a School Mental Health Therapist to support a partner school district for the 2026–2027 school year. This is a high-impact role working directly with students who need emotional, behavioral, and mental health support in a school-based setting.
This position is ideal for clinicians who enjoy direct student interaction, crisis support, and collaborative school environments. Open to School Counselors, School Social Workers, Licensed Marriage Family Therapist, Clinical Social Workers (not taking associate level for any of these)
8 Total Openings 2 Early Childhood, 4 Elementary, and 2 Middle School
Key Responsibilities
•Provide individual and small group counseling to students with social-emotional and behavioral needs
•Work 1:1 or in small groups with students who have behavioral or emotional challenges
•Help students regulate emotions using calming strategies and coping skills
•Support students during difficult moments (e.g., meltdowns, anxiety, frustration)
•Reinforce positive behavior and build social skills
•Conduct student assessments and develop treatment or intervention plans
•Participate in IEP, 504, and MTSS/RTI meetings
•Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, and safety planning
•Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and families to support student outcomes
•Maintain compliance with documentation, reporting, and district guidelines
•Assist with school-wide SEL (Social Emotional Learning) and behavior support initiatives
Required Qualifications
•Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field
•Active or eligible South Carolina licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, etc.)
•Experience working with children, adolescents, or in a school setting
•Strong skills in behavior management, emotional regulation, and crisis intervention
•Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
•Previous school-based or pediatric experience
Preferred Qualifications
•Familiarity with IEPs, 504 plans, and MTSS frameworks
•Experience with trauma-informed care and behavior intervention strategies
