The Dental Assistant position with the Department of Corrections offers a chance to make a positive impact every day. Responsibilities Chairside Support: Assist the Dentist during procedures by preparing tools, charting findings, managing suction and irrigation. Procedure Preparation: Set up and break down workspaces, sterilize instruments, mix materials for dental use. Radiograph Processing: Expose, process, mount, and review radiographs for clarity and diagnostic quality. Impression Work: Take dental impressions and prepare diagnostic casts for evaluation. Record Management: Organize, file, and retrieve dental records in line with relevant guidelines. Patient Guidance: Explain preventative and post‑procedure care in a clear and supportive manner. Work Schedule and Benefits Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week. Work hours: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. Eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. No telework option. Starting annual salary: $37,594.00 (before taxes). Salary may be higher per collective bargaining agreement. Qualifications Minimum one year of experience in a dental office or clinic, or an accredited Dental Assisting certificate, or equivalent combination of experience and training. Successful completion of the Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) Exam required by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry. Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA. Ability to perform essential job functions. Pass background investigation and meet CJIS compliance requirements.
