Assistant Coach, Tennis (Part-Time)

Job Description

BASIC FUNCTION:

Assist the Head Coach of Men's and Women's Tennis in all aspects of the tennis program, including recruiting, scouting, coaching, and teaching skills and game strategies as directed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary duty is teaching, coaching, and mentoring student-athletes under the direction of the Head Coach. Assist the Head Coach with scouting, recruiting, and retention processes as directed. Coach in practice and match situations as determined by the Head Coach. Assist the Head Coach with fundraising and alumni relations. Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Head Coach. Maintain compliance with all NCAA, NEWMAC, and University rules and regulations. Report any potential violations to the Compliance Office and cooperate in investigations.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics. Attend departmental meetings and Admissions Open Houses as required.

LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT

Valid driver’s license in good standing. Current CPR, AED, and First-Aid certifications.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Incumbent will work both indoors and outdoors and may encounter extreme weather conditions.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree required. Strong communication, organizational skills, computer proficiency, and high self‑motivation. Ability to work in a demanding academic environment and comply with NCAA Division III, NEWMAC, and Salve Regina University policies. Knowledge of or willingness to learn technology applications such as film breakdown tools.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

One to three years of collegiate tennis coaching experience. Strong foundation in tennis rules as a player or coach and an understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
