Primary Montessori Teacher

School : Seton Academy Location : Villa Park, IL Job Title : Interim Upper Elementary Montessori Lead Description : Employment Period: Approximately October through Early January (Exact dates to be determined) Reports To : Principal Position Summary Seton Academy, a Catholic Montessori school in Villa Park, Illinois, is seeking a caring, organized, and faith-filled educator to serve as our Upper Elementary Montessori Directress during a maternity leave. This temporary position is responsible for maintaining the established Upper Elementary classroom, providing continuity of instruction, and nurturing the academic, social, and spiritual growth of students within our Catholic Montessori community. The classroom is well established, and the maternity leave directress will work closely with school leadership and staff to ensure a smooth transition for students and families. Essential Responsibilities The Upper Elementary Maternity Leave Directress will: Lead the classroom in accordance with the Montessori philosophy and the mission of Seton Academy Maintain a peaceful, orderly, and inviting prepared environment. Present Montessori lessons and guide students in selecting meaningful, independent work. Observe student progress and provide individualized instruction as needed. Foster responsibility, independence, grace and courtesy, and a love of learning. Supervise students throughout the school day, including lunch and recess as assigned. Maintain attendance, lesson records, and student observation notes. Communicate professionally with parents regarding student progress and classroom matters. Work collaboratively with classroom assistants, faculty, and the Principal. Participate in faculty meetings and school activities during the period of employment. Care for classroom materials and ensure the classroom remains organized and well maintained. Uphold the Catholic identity and values of Seton Academy in all interactions with students and families. Qualifications Montessori Elementary certification preferred (AMI, AMS, or equivalent). Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field preferred. Experience teaching Upper Elementary-aged students. Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to maintain consistency within an established Montessori environment. Commitment to supporting the mission and Catholic identity of Seton Academy. Hours School hours are 8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with planning time and occasional faculty meetings as scheduled.
