Senior Designer

This Company is seeking a highly creative, detail-oriented, and commercially minded Senior Designer to join our growing team in New York City. This role is ideal for a designer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys owning the complete product development lifecycle—from initial concept and sketch through sourcing, development, client presentation, production, and final delivery.

The ideal candidate combines strong creative vision with a deep understanding of apparel construction, sourcing, manufacturing, and production processes. This individual will serve as both a designer and product development leader, partnering closely with clients, factories, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to bring innovative products to market.

As a SENIOR DESIGNER, this role could include:

Concept & Design:

• Study fashion trends and anticipate designs that will appeal to our clients' consumers across eight industry sectors.
• Establish a clear design theme and direction tailored to each client's brand identity.
• Sketch original designs and produce technical flats in Adobe Illustrator using computer-aided design (CAD) tools.
• Select fabrics, embellishments, colors, trims, and styling for each garment or accessory.

Client Presentation:

• Present design ideas and concepts to both our Creative Director and clients.
• Prepare and assist with presentation boards for seasonal milestone meetings.
• Build and maintain line sheets, updating them as collections evolve.
• Attend client meetings as needed to align designs with brand expectations.

Development:

• Partner with manufacturers to source new fabrics, trims, and samples.
• Attend fit sessions and provide construction direction to ensure quality and fit.
• Review lab dips, evaluate samples, and send detailed comments to vendors.
• Maintain mastery of all raw materials and trims relevant to each product classification.

Production:

• Oversee the full production of all products from approved sample through to finished goods.
• Monitor development and production timelines, troubleshooting issues to keep programs on schedule and on standard.
• Collaborate with fellow designers and cross-functional team members to execute garments from concept to delivery.
• Perform other related duties as required to support the design and production process.

Required Competencies

• Bachelor's Degree in Fashion or Art, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of relevant work experience in the fashion industry.
• Demonstrated ability to own the full design lifecycle — concept, sketch, client presentation, development, and production oversight.
• 5+ years of proven CAD design skills with working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Keen eye for color, trend, detail, and construction.
• Strong knowledge of raw materials and trims across multiple product classifications.
• Apparel production experience (preferred).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to present to creative leadership and clients.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to multi-task and prioritize based on business objectives.
