Title: Lifeguard Department: SO Sci, Tech, Eng & Mth Admin Campus Location: South Campus Employee Classification: ISP - Instructional Sup Position Type: PT - Regular Grant Funded: No Pay Frequency: Monthly Compensation Details: Starting Pay - $18.22 Work Hours: Varies based on department needs Remote Eligible: This position is not eligible for remotework Special Instructions to Applicant: This is a part-timetemporary position, with a maximum of 19.5 hrs. per week This posting will be utilized to fill three (3) positions Job Summary Reporting to the assigned campus leader, the Lifeguard isresponsible for ensuring the safety of pool patrons and assistswith aquatic programs and pool operations. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Essential Performance Requirements* Safeguards and regulates conduct of pool patrons, while enforcingpool policies, rules, and regulations Rescues patrons and performs appropriate follow-up procedures,including the proper use of equipment in the performance of firstaid Maintains appropriate records, including participating in thepreparation of daily records, providing written reports on allaccidents, and maintaining proper updated safety requirements Conducts patron swimming test to assess ability to swimindependently and unattended while providing customer service topatrons, including handling customer conflict and complaints, asnecessary Performs work safely in accordance with departmental safetyprocedures, including operating equipment safely and reporting anyunsafe work conditions or practice to supervisor; attendsin-service training and instructs certain skills to staff Maintains equipment and materials used within thedepartment Maintains room in clean, orderly manner and provides strictsecurity and accountability Service Excellence Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, andfollows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of theworksite Completes all required training and professional developmentsessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC) Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of theCollege Supervision Works under the general supervision of the assigned campusleader *Performs Other Related Tasks as Required The duties listed are intended only as illustrations of thevarious types of work that may be performed. Required Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED Six (6) month's working experience related to the EssentialPerformance Requirements Lifeguard certification First aid certification CPR/AED certification Preferred Qualifications American Red Cross Lifeguard certification At least one (1) year's working experience as a Lifeguard Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonalrelationships including strong listening, verbal, and writtencommunication Skilled using computer applications and enterprise systems,including the Microsoft Office suite Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicateproblems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work arevaried, and unpredictable in scope and volume Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations basedon policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations Physical Demands and Work Environment Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of thosethat must be met by an employee to successfully perform theessential functions of this job. While performing the duties ofthis job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands tofinger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach withhands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must be able toreact to emergency situations, which may require quick movements,strenuous activity, and occasionally assisting or lifting personsin distress of various weights. The employee must occasionally liftand/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted, or up to 65 pounds with theassistance of other employees or equipment as appropriate. Specificvision abilities required by this job include close vision,distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception,and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here arerepresentative of those an employee encounters while performing theessential functions of this job. While performing the duties ofthis job, the employee will have exposure to swimming pools,chemical fumes, wet and humid conditions, and occasionallymoderately loud noise. The employee may also occasionally worksnear moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to therisk of electrical shock.
