We're thrilled to launch our first-ever Zeta High School class of 9th graders in the 2026-27 school year, located at 1080 St. Nicholas Avenue in Upper Manhattan. This exciting milestone marks the next chapter in our mission to provide world-class education from pre-kindergarten through high school. We currently operate multiple elementary and middle schools across the Bronx, Upper Manhattan, and Queens, and plan to open 1–2 new schools each year – because children in every community deserve excellent, equitable education. To achieve our vision, we are searching for an English Teacher with a Bachelor's degree (English-related degree preferred), and at least 1-2+ years of lead teaching experience (NY certification preferred), with a proven record of propelling extraordinary student growth.

Responsibilities:

• Implement inquiry-driven, discussion-rich lessons that engage students in analyzing complex texts from diverse voices and global perspectives—developing critical thinking, empathy, and strong written and verbal communication.
• Demonstrate deep expertise in English Language Arts content and pedagogy , guiding students to master literary analysis, evidence-based argumentation, and clear, purposeful writing.
• Build a classroom culture where curiosity, dialogue, and creativity thrive—and where students feel empowered to share ideas, challenge assumptions, and see themselves reflected in literature.
• Serve as an Advisor to a small cohort of students, developing meaningful relationships with families and supporting each student's personal and academic growth.
• Collaborate with colleagues to co-create a rigorous, joyful founding high school environment rooted in Zeta's mission and values.
• Use data, feedback, and student work to assess reading comprehension, writing progress, and critical thinking—and continuously refine instruction.
• Embrace the "start-up spirit" of a founding team—adapting quickly, solving problems creatively, and building systems that will define the future of Zeta High School.
• Engage in ongoing professional learning and coaching to sharpen your craft and contribute to a team that believes in doing hard things exceptionally well.

We are hiring for the 2026–2027 school year, with a start date of July 27, 2026. The salary range for this position is between $75,000 and $115,500. New hires can expect to be brought into the organization at a salary closer to the beginning of the range, depending on relevant experience, certification status, and internal equity. Compensation is based on our salary scales.
