Water Resources Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Water Resources Project Manager to lead the planning, design and delivery of projects that support sustainable water management and resilient infrastructure. This role will oversee projects from initial feasibility and business case development through procurement, construction, commissioning and close-out. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage consultants and contractors, and ensure that project outcomes meet technical, environmental, financial and community expectations.


Key responsibilities include developing project scopes, schedules, budgets, risk registers and delivery strategies; monitoring progress, costs, quality and safety; and providing clear reports to senior stakeholders and project governance groups. You will manage investigations, options assessments, hydraulic and hydrologic studies, water supply and demand planning, drainage, flood mitigation, stormwater, wastewater or related infrastructure initiatives. The role will also involve preparing procurement documentation, supporting tender evaluations, administering contracts, resolving issues and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, standards, approvals and environmental requirements. Building effective relationships with regulators, landowners, communities, technical specialists and delivery partners will be an important part of the position.


To succeed, you will have substantial project management experience in water resources, civil infrastructure, environmental engineering or a related discipline, together with relevant tertiary qualifications. Professional registration or project management certification will be highly regarded. You will bring strong knowledge of project delivery frameworks, contract administration, risk management, budgeting and stakeholder engagement, as well as the ability to interpret technical information and make sound, evidence-based decisions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, commercial awareness, strong organisational capability and a commitment to safety, sustainability and continuous improvement are essential. Experience delivering complex projects in a regulated environment and working across multidisciplinary teams will be advantageous.
