Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 06:45 AM - 07:45 PM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS, NRP, AWHONN/Fetal Heart Monitoring Must-Have: Labor and Delivery experience required, postpartum experience preferred. Description: The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of direct patient care to a designated group of patients within the Client Child Health department. This position will work collaboratively with unit leadership to follow the scope of practice for nursing governing bodies that apply to Client Child Health. Responsibilities will include observation, data collection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's physical, psychological, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs. The nurse assesses patients and families whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex. They quickly recognize normal parameters, deviations, and abnormalities in physical, emotional, developmental, and behavioral status based on past clinical experience. A person-centered care approach is used in the development of care plans and in prioritizing nursing care to meet patient and family needs. The nurse plans for the care of patients, demonstrating the ability to effectively prioritize both expected and unanticipated needs. Patients and families are involved in establishing care goals. Critical thinking skills are demonstrated by making appropriate clinical decisions, prioritizing both planned and unplanned events, and proactively addressing potential and actual problems. Competence in the implementation of the technical skills required for the care of patients and families is essential. The nurse demonstrates initiative in remaining current on policies, procedures, and standards. They act as a resource to peers. Interventions for the attainment of care goals reflect resourceful involvement of the health team members. The nurse facilitates the linking of patients and families with other disciplines and services as needed.
