Duties and Responsibilities Under general supervision, the Community Supervision Officer performs professional probation, juvenile supervision, detention, and case management services for adult and juvenile offenders under the jurisdiction of the Tribal Court. The officer monitors compliance with court-ordered conditions, conducts risk and needs assessments, prepares court reports, supervises offenders in the community, coordinates rehabilitative services, and promotes public safety while supporting offender accountability and successful reintegration. The position requires frequent interaction with offenders, victims, families, Tribal departments, schools, treatment providers, law enforcement agencies, and community organizations. The Community Supervision Officer exercises independent judgment while ensuring compliance with Tribal, federal, and applicable state laws, court orders, departmental policies, and confidentiality requirements. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Adult Community Supervision Supervise adult offenders placed on probation by the Tribal Court. Conduct offender risk and needs assessments to determine appropriate supervision levels. Develop individualized case plans that address criminogenic needs, treatment, education, employment, housing, and behavioral goals. Conduct office, home, school, workplace, and field visits to monitor compliance with court orders. Explain probation conditions, offender responsibilities, and court expectations. Monitor compliance with court-ordered conditions including: Drug and alcohol testing Counseling and treatment participation Community service Restitution Curfews Electronic monitoring Protective orders Conduct random drug and alcohol screenings. Install, monitor, and manage electronic monitoring equipment when ordered by the Court. Respond to probation violations through graduated sanctions, violation reports, recommendations to the Court, or arrest procedures as authorized. Maintain frequent contact with offenders, employers, family members, treatment providers, schools, and other collateral contacts. Juvenile Probation and Detention Supervise juveniles placed on probation or detained by Tribal Court. Conduct juvenile intake interviews and complete required documentation. Counsel juveniles regarding probation expectations, school attendance, behavioral goals, and rehabilitation. Conduct home, school, office, and community visits. Coordinate with parents, guardians, schools, counselors, and social service agencies. Attend court hearings, school meetings, expulsion hearings, multidisciplinary staffing meetings, and case reviews. Monitor juvenile compliance with court orders and treatment recommendations. Schedule and coordinate medical, dental, behavioral health, and counseling appointments for detained juveniles. Notify parents or guardians regarding medical needs and significant incidents. Maintain juvenile detention records, incident reports, restraint documentation, and detention logs. Manage juvenile telephone accounts and communication systems within detention. Oversee juvenile admissions, releases, inventory of personal property, and fingerprinting procedures. Complete sex offender risk assessments as directed by the Court. Process juvenile sex offender registration documentation and distribute required notices to appropriate law enforcement agencies. Court and Case Management Prepare presentence investigations, probation reports, violation reports, status reports, progress reports, and court recommendations. Prepare petitions, motions, warrants, court orders, and dismissal documents. Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential case files in accordance with Tribal, federal, and state requirements. Testify in Tribal Court regarding offender compliance, violations, investigations, and recommendations. Document all offender contacts, home visits, field contacts, collateral contacts, and case activities. Maintain statistical reports and department records. Interagency Collaboration Coordinate services with Tribal programs, behavioral health providers, schools, law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, defense counsel, victim services, federal agencies, and community organizations. Refer offenders to substance abuse treatment, mental health counseling, domestic violence intervention, educational programs, vocational training, employment assistance, housing resources, parenting classes, and other community services. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and collaborative case planning. Support culturally appropriate rehabilitation practices consistent with Kickapoo traditions and Tribal values. Assist in the development, negotiation, implementation, and monitoring of contracts, memoranda of understanding (MOUs), intergovernmental agreements, and service agreements necessary for the operation of the Community Supervision Office, ensuring compliance with Tribal policies, funding requirements, and applicable laws. Serve as the Community Supervision Office liaison with contracted service providers, grant-funded programs, treatment providers, and partner agencies to monitor contract performance, coordinate services, and ensure contractual obligations are met. Support culturally appropriate rehabilitation practices consistent with Kickapoo traditions Community Safety Conduct investigations related to probation compliance. Verify offender employment, residence, education, and treatment participation. Assess offender risk to victims and the community. Assist law enforcement with probation compliance checks when appropriate. Maintain officer safety awareness during field contacts and home visits. Respond appropriately during emergencies and crisis situations. Administrative Responsibilities Utilize criminal justice databases and other authorized information systems. Maintain electronic case management records. Prepare correspondence, reports, and statistical summaries. Maintain confidentiality of criminal justice information and protected records. Ensure compliance with Tribal Court policies and procedures. Secondary Functions Perform such other tasks as may be assigned from time to time by supervisor. Courtroom testimony and legal documentation. Electronic monitoring systems. Criminal justice databases available to the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas. Physical Activities The position requires: Sitting, standing, walking, bending, climbing stairs, and driving. Conducting field visits in homes, schools, detention facilities, and community settings. Operating standard office equipment and computer systems. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Ability to respond to emergencies involving offenders or detained juveniles. Work Environment Work is performed in offices, courtrooms, detention facilities, schools, residences, correctional settings, and outdoor environments. The position involves frequent interaction with adult and juvenile offenders and may involve exposure to hostile or volatile situations requiring sound judgment and officer safety awareness. Availability An individual must have the following job availability to perform one or more essential functions of this position. Location: 2212 Rosita Valley Road or 381 Bishop Gracida, Eagle Pass, TX 78852 Hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm. Flexibility: The employee may need to work nights, weekends, holidays and/or extended hours if required. Travel Traveling /is not necessary to perform one or more essential functions of this position Entry Criteria Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Social or Behavioral Sciences. At least one (5) year experience in probation, corrections, law enforcement, juvenile services, case management or a related field. Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license with a good driving record and be insurable. Must have access to reliable transportation to commute to and from work.
