Pediatric Physician - Alton, Illinois | Outpatient + Community-Focused Care

Overview Join a growing, patient‑centered healthcare organization in Alton, Illinois, just minutes from St. Louis, seeking a Board‑Certified / Board‑Eligible Pediatric Physician. The practice delivers comprehensive pediatric care (newborn through adolescence) with a focus on prevention, development, and community health outcomes. Role Purpose The physician will provide professional medical services within the pediatric specialty to the best of the physician’s ability through direct patient care and spend additional time as necessary to perform related duties such as completing medical records, providing MyChart consultations and in‑basket management, conducting patient‑specific education and collaborating with advanced practice providers and care team members. Responsibilities Manage the medical care of the patient panel by providing or arranging inpatient hospital care of physicians’ patients, either through regular hospital rounds or through arrangements with hospitalists or other qualified physicians to provide coverage for physicians’ hospitalized patients consistent with Medical Staff requirements. Collaborate with patients, families, and members of the care team to ensure excellent patient care outcomes at the clinic location(s) designated by BJC and any other BJC clinical outreach location to which the physician may be assigned as patient care demands. Perform and document medical histories and physicals in the patient’s medical record as required by hospital medical staff bylaws. Provide or arrange call coverage for clinic patients and inpatient call coverage in a manner acceptable to BJC and in accordance with Medical Staff bylaws, while observing and following all BJC policies and procedures and all applicable legal, ethical and professional standards. Collaborate and teach advanced practice providers, support staff or any care team member assigned in the care of the physician’s patient panel. Maintain a constant state of alertness and work in a safe manner, as required for a safety‑sensitive position. Qualifications Education Doctorate in Medicine Licenses & Certifications Board‑eligible or Board‑certified in Pediatrics Licensed Physician Experience No prior supervisory experience required.
