Our culture fosters a connected work environment where employees are engaged, supported, and provided opportunities to grow.Summary/Objective: The Material Handler supports day-to-day operations of the retail location by safely handling, storing, packaging, and distributing fertilizer, chemicals, and related products. This role involves operating material handling equipment such as forklifts and blending equipment, maintaining warehouse and site cleanliness, assisting with inventory activities, and supporting seasonal operational demands.During peak planting and harvesting seasons, the Material Handler may be required to perform CDL-related duties. It would be preferred if the successful candidate had a Class B Commercial Driver's License.Essential Functions:Safety First: Perform all duties in compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company safety policies; consistently use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe work practices at all timesSafely handle, store, label, segregate, and transport hazardous materials, including pesticides, fertilizers, and chemicals, in compliance with all applicable regulationsReceive, store, stage, bag, load, and unload fertilizer, chemical, and related products according to established proceduresOperate forklifts, blending equipment, and other material-handling equipment in a safe and efficient mannerPull, prepare, secure, and load customer orders using proper sequencing and loading techniquesInspect warehouse equipment, vehicles, work areas, and safety stations; report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or maintenance needs to site leadership immediatelyOperate trucks and hauling trailers, and other company vehicles to transport products and equipment; follow efficient routes while maintaining professional customer servicePerform DOT-required pre-trip and post-trip inspections; ensure vehicles are properly equipped with required safety equipment, placards, and documentationMaintain accurate driver logs (when applicable), shipping papers, permits, delivery records, and preventive maintenance documentation in compliance with regulationsLoad, secure, verify, and unload cargo to ensure safe transportation and timely deliveryAssist with fertilizer spreader fueling, pan testing, calibration, and basic plant or equipment maintenanceMaintain a clean, organized, and professional warehouse, vehicle, and site environmentSupport seasonal operations, assist in training new or seasonal employees on safe work practices, and perform other duties as assigned to ensure safe and efficient site operationsEmbodies GreenPoint Ag's Vision, Mission, Values, and Goals in daily work, contributing to a strong company culture through dedication and alignment with organizational objectivesRequired Qualifications:Specific position/site qualifications and progression may apply, consult with Human ResourcesHigh School graduate or GED; may be offset by experienceExperience working in a warehouse environment (e.g., product storage, product staging, etc.) preferredExperience driving a forklift (e.g., performing basic operations such as driving forwards, driving backwards, lifting, and lowering boom, maneuvering in tight areas without damaging products, etc.) preferredExperience working with racking systems and loading/unloading pallets (e.g., pulling and placing pallets on/off vertical product racking systems and trucks, maximizing storage by stacking products vertically, etc.)Must possess a valid driver's license; must be able to meet a Motor Vehicle Review in accordance with Company policyKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Self-reliant and able to accurately work under limited supervisionAbility to ensure a safe working environment while performing assigned tasksCustomer focused and able to work in a collaborative teamAbility to be flexible in work performed and scheduleAbility to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions, and possess basic mathematical skills (preferred)Trained or be able to operate lift truck if requiredSelf-motivated and able to perform cleanup around the work areaAbility to communicate and work effectively with team members and customersApplicants must also be able to demonstrate the following competencies: acts with integrity in products, processes, and relationships; delivers results efficiently & effectively; embraces role as an individual contributor to the warehouse teamWork Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a warehouse or outdoor agricultural setting. Employee will regularly encounter extreme temperatures, adverse weather, dust, loud noises, and a hazardous agricultural and/or industrial environment that requires regular use of PPE.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Needs to stay in good physical condition to regularly lift more than 50 pounds, climb ladders, perform preventive maintenance activities, and assist other plant/warehouse workers in various physical duties necessary in running an agricultural location. Employee will regularly be required to walk, stand, lift, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, handle, feel and grasp. Must be able to work at heights between 45-65 feet from a catwalk, while using proper harness personal protective equipment on occasion to maintenance fertilizer conveyer.
