Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner)

Job Title

Duties

Conduct and direct collaborative care assessment, diagnosis and management of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Implement the patient therapeutic care plan, with significant emphasis in the areas of patient/family education, assessment, and support.

Order and interpret related laboratory and diagnostic tests; prescribe medications; and initiates emergency care.

Consult and collaborate with physicians and other health care providers regarding patient management including evaluating and revising therapeutic plans and managing high-risk, unstable, or extremely complex patients.

Evaluate care delivery models and strategies, using concepts related to community, environmental/occupational health, and cultural and socioeconomic dimensions of health.

Serve as a preceptor to graduate students enrolled in nurse practitioner and physician assistant programs, medical students and to newly assigned nurse practitioners.
