Position Assistant Clerk I (Open) Location Wahoo, NE Compensation Starting Salary: $40,822.75 annually (Hiring Rate). Immediate Growth: Earn a 2.5% pay increase after successful completion of probation (if starting at Hiring Rate). Starting Rate Flexibility for higher pay based on education and experience. Future increases: annual cost‑of‑living adjustments subject to State Legislature approval. Job Description Responsible for working under general supervision, providing customer service, clerical, and administrative support to single court operations. Cross‑trained in criminal/traffic, civil/small claims, probate, guardian conservator, and adoption service areas. Possible duties include scheduling court hearings, data entry, maintaining records, cashiering, preparing and submitting routine documents, answering inquiries from public and staff, and other related clerical tasks. Responsibilities Provides specialized clerical support for court operations, including scheduling hearings and entering new case filings. Prepares and records paperwork for the assigned area of responsibility; distributes docket for court sessions. Ensures completeness and accuracy of information and maintains related records. Responds to telephone, e‑mail, written, and in‑person inquiries from employees, other departments, and the public; transmits messages and provides information as required. Performs routing administrative support duties such as scheduling meetings, processing payments, and daily deposits. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Requirements and Qualifications Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) plus 3 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform essential duties. Education credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education. Judicial Branch does not sponsor STEM (form i-983) or non‑immigrant work visas for this position. Knowledge Requirements Customer service principles. Cashiering and ability to read bank statements. Knowledge of state and federal laws. Knowledge of judicial, jail, and court system. Filing and record‑keeping principles. Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment. Basic principles and practices in assigned area of responsibility. Computers and related software applications. Skill Requirements Providing customer service. Processing information using established procedures. Using modern office equipment. Maintaining records and files. Preparing reports and forms. Assembling and organizing data and information. Using proper English, grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Using a computer and related software applications. Communication and interpersonal skills to interact with coworkers, supervisors, and the public. Physical Requirements Primarily sedentary; occasional lifting not to exceed 20 lbs.
