The Staff Accountant plays a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the overall accounting function within a small team. Utilizing QuickBooks, this role involves reconciling bank accounts, preparing payroll and tax documents, managing profit and loss statements, and overseeing accounts receivable and payable. Monthly financial reporting ensures timely and precise insights into company performance, while managing fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and accruals. The Staff Accountant contributes to a streamlined accounting process in a collaborative environment of 1-3 team members.

Responsibilities

• Perform bank account reconciliations accurately and timely
• Prepare payroll and payroll tax documents including W2s and 1099s
• Generate monthly profit and loss statements and other financial reports
• Maintain and reconcile balance sheets, including fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and accruals
• Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable processes including invoicing and payment tracking
• Ensure proper fixed asset accounting and accrual accounting practices
• Utilize QuickBooks for all accounting tasks and record-keeping

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA certification

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of accounting experience
• Knowledge of general ledger accounting and payroll systems
• Experience with tax filing and financial reporting
• Proficiency in accounts receivable and accounts payable
• Strong Excel skills
• Excellent attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving abilities
