Contract | 13 Weeks | Nights, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM | 12-Hour Shifts | Expected 36 hours/week | Alternating Weekends
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 16-bed cardiovascular/cardiac intensive care unit with patient ratios of 2:1 or 1:1 (occasionally 3:1 depending on acuity)
- Perform titration of vesicant medications and manage pressors, sedation, and paralytics
- Operate and monitor ventilators, manage tracheostomy patients, and interpret telemetry
- Demonstrate understanding of hemodynamics, PA catheter setup and interpretation, and transvenous pacing
- Assist with or support unit procedures including cardioversion, central line insertion, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, pericardiocentesis, and thoracentesis
- Document all patient care accurately using Cerner ; float to other areas of the facility per traveler float policy
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in North Carolina (or compact state eligibility)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Proficiency in titration of vesicant medications, pressors, sedation, and paralytics
- Experience with mechanical ventilators and tracheostomy management
- Competency in telemetry interpretation and hemodynamic monitoring including PA catheter setup and interpretation
Preferred Experience / Skills
- CCRN certification preferred
- Experience with IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump), Impella, and CRRT
- Familiarity with hypothermia protocols and TEE (transesophageal echocardiography)
- Prior experience with Cerner documentation system
