Position Summary

Join the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation (YKHC) in our mission, to achieve the greatest possible improvement in the health status of the people of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta region of Alaska.  The Staff Physician is an employee working under the supervision of the Medical Director who is, in turn, supervised by the Clinical Services Administrator.

What Youll Do

  • Provide medical care to patients.
  • Engages in the outreach health care activities of the Hospital/Sub-Regional Clinic to the villages of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta including, but not limited to, Radio Medical Traffic, village trips to provide medical services, rotations, through or permanent work at SRCs, and emergency Medevac flights to patients in the villages.

  • Participates in Hospital based patient care including, but not limited to inpatient care, outpatient clinic, emergency care and call; and, in accordance with published guidelines, in quality assurance and other medical staff activities, assisting and advising YKHC programs, in areas of the Physicians expertise.

  • Accepts membership on staff committees as assigned and to participate in the activities, deliberations and decisions of those committees within the context of the best interest of the patients, the Corporation and the Medical Staff.

  • Collaborates, mentors and supports the work of Midlevel Providers, including fulfilling collaborative physician requirements for the Alaska State Board.

  • Contributes to the training programs of Medical Students and Residents who are accepted into the training program for clinical rotations at the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta Regional Hospital.

Qualifications

  • MD/DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Residency completed; board eligible or board certified by the appropriate AMA/AOA board (unless a specific exception is made).
  • Alaska State Medical License and DEA.
  • Computer proficiency to access EMR.
  • Skills and knowledge to practice medicine in the area of study.
  • Ability to supervise medical students, residents, physician extenders, and Community Health Aide clinical practice.

Compensation & Incentives

  • Guaranteed Base Annual Salary: $261,248
  • Annual Performance Bonus: $75,000 (paid quarterly)
  • Retention Bonus (3-year contract):
    • Years 1 & 2 at 7%: $18,287.36 each
    • Year 3 at 9.1%: $23,773.57
  • Sign-On Bonus (3-year contract): $75,000
  • Relocation Incentive: $15,000 (individual) or $20,000 (family)

Note on totals: The header figures are provided by the employer. Based on the breakdown above, Year 1 cash compensation (base + Year 1 retention + performance bonus) equals $396,596.29; total retention bonuses accrue over the 3-year term in the amounts listed.
