Job Title: Cisco Lan Engineer With Automation

Location: Remote

Employment Type: Contract

Pay Range: Usd 25/hr

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Cisco LAN Engineer with strong experience in network automation to design, implement, and manage enterprise-level LAN infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Cisco networking technologies along with hands-on experience in automating network operations using modern tools and scripting languages.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise LAN networks using Cisco technologies
• Configure and troubleshoot Layer 2/Layer 3 protocols (VLANs, STP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP)
• Manage Cisco switches, routers, and wireless infrastructure
• Implement network automation solutions to improve efficiency and reduce manual tasks
• Develop and maintain scripts for configuration management and monitoring
• Integrate automation tools with existing network infrastructure
• Perform network performance tuning, monitoring, and capacity planning
• Ensure network security best practices are implemented (ACLs, segmentation, etc.)
• Troubleshoot complex network issues and provide root cause analysis
• Collaborate with DevOps, cloud, and security teams

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Cisco LAN technologies (Catalyst, Nexus, etc.)
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
• Experience with routing and switching protocols (OSPF, BGP, VLANs, STP)
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python
• Experience with network automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, or similar)
• Knowledge of APIs, REST, and network programmability
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with network monitoring tools
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE)
• Experience with SDN technologies (Cisco DNA Center, ACI)
• Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 3–7+ years of experience in network engineering
• 2+ years of experience in network automation

Nice to Have

• Experience with NetDevOps practices
• Exposure to telemetry, streaming data, and observability tools
• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC)

Soft Skills

• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
• Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
