Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and required Epic proficiency for a night shift travel assignment at a Level 3 Trauma Center in Oklahoma.

Details

• Work setting is an ICU within an acute care hospital, Level 3 Trauma Center with 171 staffed beds
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:30–07:00
• Standard patient ratio is 1:2, with occasional 1:3
• Epic EMR is used for charting and experience is required within the past year
• Float requirement to Med Surg (1:5) or ER depending on census
• Weekend requirement: 3 weekend shifts per 6-week period
• No on-call responsibilities
• Block scheduling and special scheduling requests are not permitted
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers

Requirements

• Valid Oklahoma or Compact RN license required — no pending licenses accepted
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Epic charting experience required within the past year — this is a hard requirement with no exceptions
• Minimum of one (1) successful travel assignment required with no performance or attendance issues — first-time travelers will not be considered
• Proficiency with arterial line management, central line care and management, and hemodynamic monitoring
• Experience with ventilator management, CRRT, and care of complex cardiac patients (including CABG)
• Ability to manage multiple IV drips including vasoactive and cardiac drips, and heparin infusions
• Skills in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and ABGs
• Experience with CVA/acute stroke management
• No previous employment at this facility as a traveler or permanent employee (return travelers must disclose prior placement)

Additional Information

• Common diagnoses and procedures include CRRT, cardiac surgery/CABG, hemodynamic monitoring, respiratory failure with vent management, DKA, altered mental status, and management of multiple drips
• Additional procedures performed on the unit include central line setup and management, arterial line management, and CVP monitoring
• Preferred skills include Impella, IABP, post cardiac surgery care, pre/post cardiac cath/intervention, and Pulmonary Artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring
• The facility enforces a zero-fault attendance policy — any missed scheduled shift, regardless of reason, counts as unexcused; 2 missed shifts result in a warning and 3 may result in cancellation
• RTO is capped at 5 days for the 13-week assignment; no holiday RTO is permitted, and no additional RTO will be approved after acceptance
• No RTO on or around major holidays (day before, day of, and day after)
• Pre-start orientation modules are required and must be completed before the start date (approximately 3–4 hours, non-paid)
• A manager-level reference (Manager or Unit Supervisor — no Charge RNs) from within the past year in a relevant specialty is required for consideration
• Scrub color varies by unit
